Sleepless Nights...

Image
Thousands thoughts run inside my mind, Scary nightmares keeps me confined. Sleepless nights are all over again, For I think there is no end to all the worldly pain. My heart says relax But my mind says no. My own brain has became my greatest foe. I tend to find peace but failed to find it out, All I feel is to go top of the hill and shout. How to get out of this, the sickening infinite thoughts, Tell the brain to de-stress and ease-off that I ought, ease-off that I ought.

Two Kinds of Poeple

Image
There are two kinds of people: the one you really want to be with, the one who is do-gooder to you. And you are forced to ask:  What in seven heavens have did you like this? And the second are the ones who you feel just like crap and they intrigue you to question the Almighty: Why do these people even exist on earth? The first kind is always close to our heart.  Spending time with them and the time flies. These people are true altruist and benevolent to you. Not that they are saints or something, but they are good for you. They always take a stand for you, even in your bad times. The other, you want dead, yes! Dead-dead. You will happily kill those persons if the judge in the court calls it “Not guilty”. If Karma would not punish you for murdering those people, you would love to kill them. You may not speak up, but you really want to use all the f*** words for them. People for people may change their colors. I think you didn’t get it! Well, The do-goode...

That's my Angel...

Image
Do you  believe in angels? Do you believe that angels exist? Yes! They do... Angels do exist. In many forms... But we fail to admire them, embrace them, cherish them and rejoice their existence. Here are some moments that made me feel I am surrounded by angels.  When I could not sleep, and mom ran fingers through my hairs That's my angel. When I was hungry and my friend offered food, That's my angel. When I was so demotivated and my boyfriend held my hand, That's my angel. When I messed up and my sister covered up for me, That's my angel. When I was hit and my brother stood for me, That's my angel. When I was sick and my granny took care of me, That's my angel. When I fall and dad picked me up, That's my angel. When I was alone and a stranger became my best friend. That's my angel. Do let me know when you find your angel. Love, Surbhi :)

Fundamental Techniques in Handling People

Image
Don't criticize, condemn or complain: People don't criticize themselves for anything no matter how wrong it may be. Criticism is futile because it puts a person on the defensive and usually makes him strive to justify himself. Criticism is dangerous, because it wounds a person's precious pride, hurts his sense of importance and arouses resentment. Let's realize that the person we are going to correct and condemn will probably justify himself or herself, and condemn us in return. When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotions, creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity. Any fool can criticize, condemn or complain - and most fool do. But it takes self-control to be understanding and forgiving. Instead of condemning people, let's try to understand them. Let's try to figure out why they do what they do. That's a lot profitable and intriguing than criti...

A must read... What You Deserve, Finding Love and Don't Need That..

Image
What You Deserve You deserve more of their attention than their phone does. You deserve quality time, not just time. You deserve efforts, not just routines. You deserve to be treated as if you are a priority, not the last thing on their checklist. You are special and you deserve to be the only option. If that is too much to ask, you are asking the wrong person Finding Love Love is not something you catch, It is something that catches you. (most likely by surprise) It is something you fall into, and even when you try catch yourself, its power won't allow to break your fall. Love isn't something you trip into, it is something you prepare yourself to be directed into. Don't Need That You don't need to be prettier. You do, however, need to quit comparing what you see in your mirror to what you see on the television screen. One is reality, one is a presentation. No need to be a little skinnier or have a more perfect body. Those models are products...

Image
Making of Babaji Inc. by Shravya Bhinder My rating: 4 of 5 stars “One of these mind-boggling problems comes to haunt Billu’s life. Billu, a middle-class bank cashier, loses a bag containing lakhs of rupees belonging to a high end customer. His superstitious wife convinces him to seek the advice of Babaji she knows. The story is a comical journey of a bank-cashier Billu turning into a babaji that leads to the making of “Babaji Inc.”. It is indeed a funny and easy read. Shravya Bhinder ca...

Having everything in her life, excellent academics, good looks and boys swooning over her, this girl suffers from maniac high and depressive lows. Ankita is by far shown as a shallow character. Review: Office Shocks: A Novel

Image
Office Shocks: A Novel by Sumit Aggarwal My rating: 1 of 5 stars Office Shocks • Story about first day office experience • Failed to meet the expectations “A fresh and opinionated recruit trying to fathom his way through the baffling arena of the working world.” Office shocks is a comical chronicle of first day office experience of a new joiner. The writer failed to deliver the much needed humor in the story as promised. The novel ends up not giving a lasting impression in any form. The story is about the first day of Aniket as a Junior Associate in Cairn & Company. His first day at office turns out to be shocking. As the day progresses hour-by-hour, he encounters a fickle-minded boss, flirtatious colleagues, an erudite family man with a secret life. The writer tried to present it in a funny way. I did not connect with Aniket or with any of the characters in the book. The book belongs to one the regrettable reads. The writing style is much like an overburde...

"Life would have been easier had it been possible for us to plan falling in love. More importantly, avoid falling in love" The story comes up with an entirely new plot. Ravinder Singh is true and honest in his writing. He beautifully states the story without making any judgement on extramarital affairs. It is story of a women who falls in love with her gym trainer, who is not her husband. She is married to a business tycoon who is not an attentive husband. Inside, just like any girl, she desired to be loved. The protagonist finds herself asking, "Is this love right?" Ravinder Singh has always been successful in binding emotions along with making the readers walk into the story with the characters. The story is written nicely. His writing style is quite...

Being Introvert

Image
“Not a people-person”, most people are introvert. Introvert doesn't mean that a person is anti-social or he doesn't like the company of people. Its just that they enjoy in their own small world. They find happiness in themselves. Addicted to ones own company, people tend to be more creative than others. “ For introverts, to be alone with our thoughts is as restorative as sleeping, as nourishing as eating.” ~ Jonathan Rauch Introverts don't like to talk much, but once they get into topic of their interest, its difficult to shut them up. “ [Introverts] listen more than they talk, think before they speak, and often feel as if they express themselves better in writing than in conversation. Many have a horror for small talk, but enjoy deep discussions.” ~ Susan Cain Here are some of the things introverts can relate to: Introverts are not people-person No fondness for party Loves isolation Mostly spends...

Spread Smiles this Diwali

Image
A young boy was counting some coins near a firework's shop. He wished to buy some crackers but he was extremely poor to have them. His desire to have crackers was visible through his eyes. I went near to him and asked "What do you want?" He nodded and said in a very low voice "Nothing, mam". He was too young for his maturity and the conscience he had within.  When I came back home, all I could imagine was his face that said a lot of things. The city got lightened up with lamps and colorful lights, but could not brighten this little boy's life. Festivals are meant to bring joys and happiness in our life, I saw this boy choked and throttled from inside. This Diwali take a pledge to share happiness. Bringing smile on someone's face is far better than enjoying fireworks. Celebrate this Diwali with less crackers and more happiness. Share your sweets and gifts with less privileged people. Share happiness and spread smiles! Have a wonderful...
