Review: Life is What You Make It: A Story of Love, Hope and How Determination Can Overcome Even Destiny
Life is What You Make It: A Story of Love, Hope and How Determination Can Overcome Even Destiny by Preeti Shenoy
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Life is what you make it
“The heart-warming story of a young girl who struggles against all odds, when life as she knows it is disrupted What would you do if the perfect life you have is torn asunder? “
· Nostalgic and sensitive
· Inspiring – A story of love, hope and determination
· Mentally draining
A story of love, hope and how determination can overcome even destiny. Well! The story is a courageous move and effort of the writer. It requires bravery to choose such a sensitive topic i.e. Bipolar Disorder.
Life is what you make it is a story of girl named Ankita who finds herself in a mental hospital. Having everything in her life, excellent academics, good looks and boys swooning over her, this girl suffers from maniac high and depressive lows. Ankita is by far shown as a shallow character.
The use of repetitive statements makes it boring for the readers. It is difficult to connect with the characters, of course not what Preeti Shenoy is known for. The effort of choosing such a topic gives it a plus point but at many point the story becomes terribly tensing and makes the readers drained up. The only point where the story justifies the title is its epilogue.
